Haiti
Devastation, poverty, political unrest and enormous need. These visions are often what first come to mind when thinking of Haiti. Even as the least-developed country in the Western Hemisphere and one of the poorest in the world, Haiti is also a place of vast potential and inspiring hope.
Government turmoil and ongoing voodoo practices have been part of Haiti’s history for centuries. Lack of food and natural resources, political instability and uprisings have added to Haiti’s economic stagnation and continue to severely affect the people of Haiti. The majority of Haitians live on less than $2 per day and over half the population is illiterate. In order to combat the religious turmoil, the poor economy and poverty, humanitarian and evangelistic outreach is crucial. That’s why we serve in Haiti!
We began working in Haiti in 1979 and continue to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual and educational needs of the Haitian people so they can also see and know Christ. Whether providing education and job training, leadership skills, health care, outreach or a hot meal for a child, CWO is making a difference.
